Deterioration of The Black Community

This is a video of a man who is not too fond of the things that are occurring in the black community. He talks about all different kinds of problems that are deteriorating the black community. This shows that the people of the community are in need of help and support to try and change the way that are happening in these communities.

Safe- Assessment Blog

Mid-way through my second semester of college I feel as though my writing as well as blogging  has come along way. My writing has improved tremendously in aspects of grammar and word choice. Secondly, my blogging is extremely helpful towards the African American community because my research and information is directly related to the current issues that exist in these communities. My writing and blogging can be influential to people who observe and learn from the information this blog portrays. Individuals who can relate directly towards the message in which this blog is sending can better themselves as well as the people around them. Improving things such as education, poverty, and decreasing the amounts of violence in African American communities (all things in which this blog promotes) will change the direction in which a lot of predominately African American neighborhoods are going in. Using sayings from my grandmother ”black is back, and if you disagree you are wack.”  This is just more motavation that if us as Americans help those who are in need of help it will make a better world for us all.

New Media and its Effects on The AIDS Virus

            New Media and AIDS
New media is positively affecting the AIDS virus today. Meaning new media is one large way of prevention for the virus. This is clear because frequently we tend to see flyers or information in various different places educating people about AIDS and how to prevent getting it. Farag M. Elkamel author of “Can New Media Prevent AIDS” statea that New media prevents AIDS through regular entrainment and media coverage for example, through sports, art, crime and political events. Elkamel also states new media prevents AIDS through planned media and entertainment materials.  The article reads “Communication experts and planners have realized the need for, and importance of, professional media planning. Manufacturers of commercial products, in realization of this fact, have devoted a sufficient amount of their budget to the use of communication services, marketing and advertising professionals to plan campaigns to influence the buying behavior of potential customers”. In addition to the two previous ways that new media prevents adds it also prevents the virus by measuring AIDS through the mass media.  There are plenty of statics that show how many people have the virus in specific areas. The Education about AIDS to the public is very well out in the public.

New Media In Libya

                                              New Media in Libya
New media has drastically affected the country Libya. New media has showed the world what is really going inside of the country. Until recently the country of Libya's government has been portraying a false image of what is actually going one inside of the country. According to a BBC article "The government made it seem as though the streets of Libya were being cleaned up and they have been giving food and shelter to foreign workers. The New Daily paper in Libya that is titled Libya and is run by the citizens of the country reported on ”liberation” celebrations on how volunteers have been cleaning the streets and how they have been giving food and shelter to foreign workersSome New Media sites such as Twitter and facebook are blocked in the country. Some citizens are still able to log into these sites through proxy sites or other methods of circulating the control mechanism for the Internet. This is actually a good thing because people inside of the country can leak information out to the rest of the public about what is actually going on inside of the country. The citizens of Libya have posted interviews, blogs, pictures, and videos about what is going on in the country.

(This is an visual image of what is going in Libya. )

Improving Poverty in African American Communities

Poverty is an issue in African American communities nation wide. New media can help spread the word about this issue to the public. New Media involves various different media related services that can help make readers, listeners, and viewers more aware of currency related issues that occurs in African American communities. A lot of neighborhoods that are financially improvised are ones whom residents are on public assistance. One way our new media sites  can suggest to get help for the people living in these communities is by getting word out to the public that jobs need to be created in this area to help the poverty issue. There are also websites that are already in existence that support this claim such as: (http://www.bellaonline.com/articles/art8507.asp). The poverty issues leads to other factors in which African American communities are are the downfall for example it leads to crime. Once the ball gets rolling with eliminating one of the major factors which are holding African American communities down, the less difficult the task will be on improving these communities.

Stoping The Violence In Predominantly African American Neighborhoods Via Social Networking Sites

Another very important problem in predominately African American neighborhoods is violence.  Violence occurs a lot in these neighborhoods and social media sites are a way to get the word to stop the violence out to the public. Social media sites are very influential tools. If i can start a twitter and a facebook page and get people to support them it may change the minds as well as influence people to stop the violence.  Also these pages can let the public know about personal experiences that people go through who live in such neighborhoods. Also I will post videos and personal statement on these social networking sites of what goes on daily in these neighborhoods.  These videos and personal statements will let people who are not from or do not know what goes on in these neighborhoods know that their help is needed.  Also feedback from the public such as ideas, opposing views, criticism, and helpful advice can be collected through social networking sites.  Basically, social networking sites will serve as the main instrument of communication for this project.

Improving Education Systems In Predominately African American Neighborhoods VIA Twitter

Education is one of the primary reasons why black communities in America are on the decline.  In almost every predominately black community in America mathematical and reading test scores are below basic levels.  For example at Wilkinsburg High School in Wilkinsburg, Pennsylvania a predominately black school the preliminary state figures show that just 16.9 percent of the students met standards in reading on the Pennsylvania System of School Assesment. These predominately black school districts generally get not as good teachers. One way that I will address this is is through twitter. Twitter is one of the many new social networking sites that can help get the word out to Americans that are not aware of these issues. Also this can help get donations or other kinds of funding to schools in predominately black neighborhoods so that the education systems can get better. Also if I can get the word out to teachers who like to help students who need the extra attention they may be willing to relocate schools or tell others in their profession about such situations.

New Media Article

The article "Positive Effects of the Media Today" describes all the positive contributions that come from online networking sites such as; Twitter, Facebook, Myspace, Blogger, etc. The article did not mention to many things that are bad effects from these networking tools. Some of the positive contributions were social networking sites bring people with similar interests together. There may have been one or two comments about negative connotation from new media sites which were cyber bullying and written abuse. They also let people expose new ideas all over the world. These positive contributions  can be extremely helpful towards my website because it will allow me to use  some of the above mentioned sites to get information about African American communities that are not doing well overall out to the public.  For example, I will be making Twitter and Facebook pages along with this blogger site to inform Americans about the every day struggles that occur in predominately African American communities. Also these are ways I can get feedback from the public. People whom are not aware of these issues can now be informed.
