Overall improvement is needed in predominately black communities in America. In modern America, Black communities by far are some of the most ”run-down” and unproductive communities. My first contention is that the education systems in African American communities are ineffective. President Barack Obama told CNN news
"If we close the achievement gap, then a big chunk of economic inequality in this society will be diminished.” This proves that African Americans are not the only ones who are aware of the academic hardships that occur in their communities. Education systems are one of the leading reasons why black communities are on the decline, and in-order to better African American communities as a whole nation wide, this issue needs to be addressed. The New York times states that "African Americans currently score a lot less than European Americans on vocabulary, reading, and mathematics tests, as well as on tests that claim to measure scholastic aptitude and intelligence". The New York times also states "that since 1970, the typical American black still scores below 75 percent of American whites on most standardized tests. On some tests the typical American black scores below more than 85 percent of whites." This is evidence enough that the education systems in the black communities are far less helpful than the ones in white communities. The previously mentioned information is evidence enough that in order to better black communities, education systems need to be improved first. Additional information about how new media can help address this social issue was previously blogged about. Here is the link.

Rebuttal: An opposing view to this argument is that the people who live in these communities may not be willing to cooperate with the methods that need to be used in-order to better the education systems, such as higher taxes. Also another opposing view is that the majority of America may not want to better educational systems in African American communities.
Refutation: If the people of the African American community do not want to help participate in the methods to better their community such as higher taxes, there are alternatives to bettering the educational system rather than through raising taxes. Such as targeting specific teachers that are more interested in helping the students rather than having a fat paychecks. The second opposing view is that the majority of America may not want to better educational systems in African American communities, this may be true but, this is not a matter of what the majority wants. This is a matter of saving and redirecting a race of people. If African American communities continue at the rate in which they are, pretty soon they may no longer even exist because of the educational system, violence, and poverty that go on in these neighborhoods.
